I don't know, I never read much of the Codex. I was under the impression that the CCP collapsed and whatever's left of China started forming the predecessor to the PAC. Honestly that's one thing I think 2042 does well, it's a very clear throughline for how 2142's factions evolve, it explains how America is now a junior partner to the reformed EU, how the PAC starts forming and allies with Russia, and I imagine the country founded by the No-Pats is what leads to the Union of African States which was an EU ally in 2142. Credit where it's due.

Honestly what it reminds me of the most is Raid Shadow Legends' story: it's there because it's expected to be there and nothing else. Like Raid doesn't have a proper story at all, it's an incoherent mess of contradictory lore blurbs and retcons. Honestly I think the reason is due to them wanting a multinational NATO force rather than just US and most of NATO doesn't use the Humvee as extensively as the US, Hell the US doesn't use it as extensively as they used to. Also the introduction of lightweight vehicles has really changed the battlefields to come. This is a good representation of it.

MW3 (2011) had Remington displayed very prominently on guns made by them, then Remington got sued into the ground after Sandy Hook. There's the famous lawsuit of having Humvees depicted in CoD. Textron sued EA for having their helicopters (UH-1Y Venom, AH-1Z Viper) in BF3. Originally, EA intended to pay a license fee for the use of the helicopter to rights holder Textron, but talk stalled and the game was released with virtual depictions of the helicopter regardless. EA settled out of court, which could mean millions and millions of dollars. Developers and Publishers can simply get around these lawsuits and licensing fees by calling shit random names and numbers. Anon, the game's 10yrs old, how can you not know how to use passive radar and guided lock-ons? Lock, fire as far up as possible, break lock, lock again after (and in some cases through) countermeasure. Congratulations, you've just hit an (air) vehicle with one of the most skillless weapons in the entire game. In a stealth jet/boat/AA you can even prefire without a lock -- which eftectively makes it impossible to dodge/countermeasure the missles, as they'll snap at max speed onto the target, no matter in which direction/when you've shot them.
