I personally prefer roughly equal (+-2") height and don't particularly mind anyone taller either. Them "feeling" more equal is definitely true, not to tear down short women or anything since I don't discriminate based on height.
With most women, especially on the shorter end, the implicit societal pressure to assist and protect them due to being seen as "vulnerable" is a bit of a barrier to feeling equal. I don't mind helping anyone out with anything, I'm even happy to do it for the most part, but it does feel liberating not having that pressure of obligation, which does make it easier to relax around them and be friends, partners or whatever.
Being closer to the height that infrastructure is built around is a benefit too, not to mention not being perceived as an easy victim, which makes it easier not to worry about someone if they are alone somewhere.
I guess some extra body weight isn't quite as visible either which is nice. This is anecdotal but tall women also seem to be either more chill on average or absolute bitches, the latter of which are pretty easy to not associate with though due to wearing it on their sleeves.
I'm not into very short women myself so I'm not quite objective there and do have my own preferences, but I'm not into the entire size gap thing and find it pretty awkward. And as for relationships i'd be looking explicity for an equal partner and not a glorified super high maintenance pet.
Just my two cents from an average height, non sociopathic yuro perspective though.
