Strange Magic does not do a good job at being a jukebox musical and a lot of the song numbers are pretty cringe. But it’s a surprisingly solid movie outside of the singing. Unfortunately, the characters break into song, like, every two minutes. Which is a big part of why the singing is so annoying. It’s be more tolerable if it didnt take up so much damn runtime. Even if it would still be pretty cringe because the dadrock oldies do not suit the characters or setting well.
