I had no idea what frame gen was before this thread. After spending my entire morning studying it and using it heres what i found:
1. It's useless for competitive gaming because it causes pretty bad input delay
2.It can look sort of good with anime and shows at 2x frames but it kinda ruins the artists intention's and going higher than 2x smears the image badly.
3.It's fucking god like for emulated older games that are hard capped at 30-60 fps and makes them look visually better while doing it
My conclusion is that its a interesting piece of technology but it's pretty much useless. If u add extra frames to anime or shows you ruin the intentionality of the artists hand drawings and if you go higher than 2x frames it starts to look like serious shit. It also takes a toll on GPU, My GPU was starting to go to a 50% process while just going 240fps on anime alone.
I don't think the technology is quiet there yet but give it like 5-10 more years and we can have frame perfect generation and input latency without any warping or smearing than it'll be something worth getting. So unless you use it for old emulated games its pretty much useless right now other than that it's just a "neat" piece of tech with a promising future.
