As someone who prefers fanmade ports over the official rereleases, the Quake 2 remaster is the exception and is better than the source ports BUT this is also one of the few retro shooters I never played in the 90s, so maybe if I did play the original I'd have a different opinion. But as a neophyte you will absolutely love the remaster. Quake 2 is my jam
