Why Square Enix is so out of touch?

Does the combat ever get any better in this? I'm 15 hours in and I've just been spamming the same four hit combo and ability cooldowns with zero challenge or thought.

Playing this right now.
Its a decent game but its starting to become a slog to get trough it. Im just halfway in.
But I already started so I have to finish.

>simplified and streamlined RPG mechanics/itemization
>fetch quests where you just walk A to B to pick up a thing or talk to an NPC
>overemphasis on parries
>shorter than most games of the genre
>half of playtime is in cutscenes, most of which are just shots of characters panting or scowling
>underdeveloped supporting cast
>be Clair Obscur Expedition 33
>pic unrelated
