The masks of Theater known as Comedy, and Tragedy, depict different members of the audience watching the same play or movie.
Depending on which characters you align with.

Harry Potter for example, in the first three books, you were probably happy for Harry
Then Ron went and fucked that Whormione
and broke Harry's heart. You wanted Harry and Ron to live happily ever after together, and in a plot twist, Ron went straight. In the next book, Harry still wants to be close to Ron, so Harry starts fucking Ron's sister in the butt, while pretending she's Ron.

One minute it's a comedy, the next it's a tragedy.

Back before light bulbs, and television, everyone in the world tuned-in every night watching the one big plasma display called the heavens. Obviously the people in Australia missed out, but the rest of the world could see what was happening from different perspectives. The romans had names for the characters, the greeks had diffent names, the buddhists and others watched as well.
Everyone had their favorite characters, some rooted for the bad guys, some the good guys.
Good and evil are a matter of perspective.

In theater there are two masks called comedy, and tragedy. Some members of the audience laugh, while others cry. depending on which character you relate to.
"Comedy is when it happens to you, tragedy is when it happens to me"
My protagonist, could be your antagonist.

God sent Moses to try and turn the jews back to God.
