Not foreign but it's mental out we've actually gone backwards in terms of practicality. People used to wear wide brimmed hats that kept off the rain and the sun from their necks, and long coats that kept their pockets dry. Nowadays we have worthless ballcaps and raincoats that stop at the waist.
