A surgeon has been jailed for 32 months after it emerged he froze and amputated his legs for his own sexual gratification.

Neil Hopper, 49, received £466,000 from insurers after claiming that injuries to his legs in 2019 were the result of sepsis rather than self-inflicted.

The vascular surgeon, who carried out hundreds of amputation operations and worked at the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust (RCHT) for a decade, used dry ice to freeze his legs.
