Depends.
I've brought over a USB with an MP4 only to have it get unrecognized then play it on a ps3.
You also can't play all the other codecs.
PS5 got worse about it.

SONY wanted to curb some online piracy cause sony makes shows and movies too.
But they also wanted to make sure to advertise you can play home movies on it.
