In the Biblical story of Genesis, the "fruit of the knowledge of good and evil" is the fruit from a specific tree in the Garden of Eden. God forbade Adam and Eve from eating this fruit, warning them that doing so would result in death. The serpent tempted Eve to eat it, claiming it would make them like God, knowing both good and evil. Eve ate the fruit and gave some to Adam, and they gained knowledge of good and evil, as well as awareness of their nakedness.
