I see what I'm sad about, show wears the cloak of edginess but under it everyone's bearing the disney archetype of one that always has tearjerking backstories or in the case of Alastor evil without the scars, depth and sickness that can make it palatable or captivating. Like having stakes, needing characters moved by powerful motivational forces and backed in their structure with a sturdy psychological spine is what sparks interest and passion. If not for goals, have characters be fascinating in their genuineness.
Take the whole redemption deal, it isn't a riveting plot moving vehicle because none of the characters in the show are complex enough to be deemed impossible to redeem, having explicitly nefarious and rotten characters would present a conflict to face Charlie's project. Failure to attain her goal and facing irredeemable evil would make for a great catalyst to produce good tv moments, a pivotal point where it has something carrying a meaningful message and fascinating characters. But I don't see that coming.
It's ok if it keep doing what it's doing but wasted potential is ever present and makes fans theorize on what could be and so on. I wish so for viz to take out the big guns.
