The income tax doesn't work that way. We also work way less hours, and we do get stuff from our taxes, but I agree too much goes to immigrants.
I do example work from home, live 40m from Stockholm centre. 30 paid holiday a year we get some extra money when taking vacation. Pension and other benefits excluded from income, over 80k dollar income. I pay less than 30% taxes nett.
I also pay like 900 dollar mortgage for my detached house.though I pay off extra, so it's a 15 year mortgage at like 1.5k but becoming less.
After utilities I have about 2.5k left which is plenty. My gfs income I ignored.
You should compare hours worked Vs income desu, we get less but we need far less too. It's not perfect, but there are plenty of poor Americans too
