Agree. On that note, I also dislike how much American comics have become repetitive and self-referential. For example, Batman was insufferable in the recent Failsafe saga. When the writer pulled up the multiverse to show off alternate versions of the cashcow, I tuned out. the Joker fatigue is also overwhelming. He is such an overrated and overused character. We have to pretend that he is a deep, tragic figure when he's the least interesting villain in the entire DC rogue gallery. The Killing Joke one-shot is dogshit and I'm tired to pretend it's not.

The core problem is that financial needs are at odds with good storytelling. Spiderman is not something that should have lasted this long, which is why they keep rehearsing its origin story. Norman Osborn should have never returned. Aunt May should have stayed dead. Every time Goblin returns, he adds a shitty retcon in Peter's backstory. Like when we find out that Gwen Stacy fucked Norman and they had super kids.
