Oh I finally get it now, comparing the anime frame with the colored manga is making me realize that the lack of highlights for her eyes and hair in the manga is extremely unflattering, makes her look weirdly dead
Hell this even extends to the B&W manga too, Kishi could've gave her darker hair with clear highlights and it would've done wonders, but instead it's just a solid white space
