It's such a shit plot though. Nothing really happens and it doesn't deal with the gravity of the situation.
Just because it's better than shit that came after it, doesn't mean it itself was good. It's just relatively better in retrospect because quality got even worse.

AND it had potential earlier on too that it squandered.
I was expecting to see entire episodes earlier on of their real lives and the people in the real world trying to save them but instead they just pretend it's not there like isekai. This is why I really dislike most isekai. Characters start to become fucking retarded just to allow the gimmick to happen. It nerfs the plot for me. Makes it really dumb.

If you're going to do this well, you need to look more at things like Kino no Tabi (the orig, not the new season). Be more like Kino to make it ... kino?
