There will be some edgy faggots who will try to claim it’s not that great.
And there will also be some retards who played an hour and “I didn’t get past green path and don’t see what the big deal is”
But for those of us who have been playing games for decades and are metroidvania fans, it’s pretty simple - this was one of the top video games of all time. Maybe even *the* top.
The way the game felt like a reasonably good linear game at first and then just OPENED UP for you, letting you explore where ever you wanted to (and could get to). The supreme non-linearity and deep lore that never once beat you over the head, and always left you feeling like you wanted more.
The action was spectacular, and every time I died I fully blamed myself. It was never the game’s fault.
I have played Hollow Knight fully through five different times, and no single time has quite been the same. It’s quite simply the finest Metroidvania of all time, and a heavy contender for greatest video game of all time. And this is coming from someone who’s been gaming since the Atari 2600.
