The fact that (You) and Kris are explicitly different entities doesn't change the fact that You are literally inserted into Kris and acting out their life for 95% of the game. In the process of playing Deltarune it is intended and unavoidable behavior that you identify with Kris on some level and act out your will on the world through them. "You and Kris are different" isn't the answer you arrive at the end of the problem, it's the starting premise the game is built on, you're still "self-inserting" even if you're aware of it because you don't have another choice. You can't know what Kris wants, all you can do is make your own choices.
