You should be using your guidelines less as a general point of reference, and more as literal construction to build out of.
Look at this picture and the way the middle line (top of the eye socket / brow) is part of the actual face geometry on the right, and why that makes it so important for your "under eye line", to be consistent when you build out the facial features
Visualize drawing less like finding correct line placement to sketch in features, and more like forming something out of clay. That's what helped me.
