>In Japanese mythology, the Qilin is called Kirin (麒麟). It is a mythical creature with origins in Chinese mythology, where it is known as the Qilin. Kirin are depicted with a mix of dragon and deer-like features, often considered a symbol of benevolence and good fortune. Interestingly, the Japanese word for giraffe is also "kirin" (キリン), due to the creature's resemblance to the mythical Kirin. They are associated with good omens, virtue, wise rulers or sages, and the beginnings/ends of ages.
The Yellow Kirin/Dragon is also meant to be the central ruling beast to the four heavenly (cardinal) beasts (White Tiger, Azure Dragon, Vermillion Bird, Black Tortoise). It's associated with the Emperor, the one with the mandate of heaven (why the Chinese emperor's symbol is a Yellow Dragon). So if you want to take Gunvolt's allusions to the Beasts as more than just an allusion, Kirin in the old script would have been the one to defeat and unite the other cardinal beasts, save the world, and become its ruler (or at least, her ideals become the dominant ones).
