Some might say it's more cyberpunk aesthetic, but in the modern rendition, a clean elevator might be necessary to convey the strength and unity of Shinra.
Imagine Barret saying:

While neon lights flicker in a dark-lit elevator room. How would that work in the modern graphics?
And it's not like there are countless examples where the punk and jankiness aesthetics is still there. It's terrible cherrypicking.
