Personally, I'd argue that splitting the thread makes all of the threads worse - keeping discussion concentrated in one place means anons are way more likely to get feedback and tips to improve their gens.
I find there's way less technical discussion in the any of the split threads - Image quality and genner quality suffer as a result.
