>and it turned out to be wildly successful
This feels like it would monkey paw the whole thing.
Success bring the competitive crowd in the mix, which in turns ruins everything.
Otherwise, here are a few niches which are surprisingly still left gameless, which I would love to see filled:
>Scifi submarine combat
Like Stingray, Sea Quest, Aquanox, Submarine Titans etc…
Mandatory inclusion: giant sea monsters AND Abyss-style biotech aliens.
>Gaslands, but for kitbashing air kits
The game is about dogfight between retrofuturistic interwar aircrafts:
Biplanes, zeppelins, seaplanes… Throw some stats for fighting King Kong, UFOs and pterodactyls in the mix, for good measure.

>Fantasy mechs
+1 for this one, but I’ll raise you one even better: make it Escaflowne and have the possibility to pit mechs against/alongside full army formations and siege weapons.

>narrative campaign style game
Also +1 for this one.
It’s low fantasy hyborian age style, your team are raiding forbidden ruins and fighting naked savages and guardians of the ruins, both living and undead.
You start with a hero and a few companions, grab treasure, use them to buy more retinues and come back for more.
