So, I noticed during the Xfinity race tonight that Mr. World Wide Technology Raceway and the Motigi oval are pretty similar in shape, length and banking and that the IndyCar and NASCAR races at Gateway are typically pretty good. So, I was thinking, what if they fixed the Motigi oval and had a fuckhuge multi year event to cover the cost.
The idea would be a weekend to weekend long event involving as many series as possible. NASCAR, IndyCar, Ausi Supercars, Super GT, Super Formula, WEC, IMSA, SRO, whoever wants to show up and run. There could be events on both the road course and oval with a feature of NASCAR and IndyCar races on both throughout the week and an oval race for both to close out the event (if the Japs can stand for them to headline) and as much practice as possible to make sure the races are good.
Just wall to wall action on both tracks.
It could be the most massive racing event in history. It would cross promote the hell out of all series involved and show Japan as the ULTIMATE motor/sp/orts nation. You could sell daily passed and full even packages. It would also be a typical three year agreement with extension options built in.
The logistics would be insane, but if anyone can do it, it's the Japanese. The crux of the whole thing is the budding NASCAR/IndyCar collaboration brought on by Fox and, of course, the Japanese habit of being Japanese for reasons the white man will never understand.
I know you guys can poke a million holes in this, but it isn't the worst idea and besides some angel investors, it's the only way I can see the oval getting fixed.
