Toon styles trend towards different properties at different periods of time, dumbass. In the late 90s/early-mid 2000s the angular style you see in Sly Cooper, Jak&Daxter, Ratchet and Clank, and shit like Loonatics was what was popular. Art isn't a static thing and trends come and go.
