100k is the top step, you need to have prior experience as a detective or metro narcotics, something with specialized investigations. Or have been in the federal law enforcement system for like 10+ years to get that gs12 ranking. You will not be getting 100k lmao, you get the bottom step which is like 49k. The 50k is paid over a 4 year contract and will be taxed about half. You'll see an extra 5-7k a year. That's like 1/3rd of an economical car purchase, 1/5th if you finance it. Feds biggest complaint is low pay, you're better off applying to high paying police agencies in areas of the country where they're paid well.
