yes. Cels were not made to last that long and in struggling studios they were washed off after they had the film they needed.

some information is here even though they are trying to sell a product. I beleive mine was kept in a humid old japanese house. It doesn't smell like vinegar anymore after putting it in the frame and surrounding it with breathable papers. mine has the oils and wrinkles. eventually it will look worse over time. I wipe the oils away every so often but eventually it wont be able to be salvageable anymore.
I actually don't mind it in a way. I'll keep it until even fades to dust. Art and life is fleeting it's only natural that as i get older and break down so will my cels.eventually we will die together. I don't intend to ever sell this so i'll keep looking at it until then It's probably one of the ways to tell your cel is as old as it's suppose to be.
I've had my yuri on ice repro just as long and i never get tired of the beautiful watercolor even though it's just a print and not a true piece.
