Gonna lead with the disclaimer here that I feel I'm a switch (male) so expect a bit of a dual/slightly alternative perspective
But in short, everyone's dynamic in a BDSM power based play relationship (femdom or maledom and then to 24/7, TPE, weekend/bedroom only, D/s, M/s, etc...) is going to have some variations. You may have a couple who is 24/7, but the only sex they enjoy is "vanilla" or you may have a once in a bluemoon weekend but pull out every fetish you can think of when you engage in it.
Now personally I do think a lot of kinks/fetishes (impact, bondage, sadism/masochism, pegging, etc...) could be wrapped under "gentle" BDSM umbrella, but the defining element I see isn't much the actual play as its the under/overtone of it. If I were domming/topping someone, obviously assuming typical agreed consent, etc... I'd happily have my way with them and be very well be focused on what I want, but I wouldn't (unless wanted) ever deny my partner pleasure and ideally once im satisfied using her, I'd make sure she'd still get off, obviously by my hand or action whether that'd be during the scene or even during aftercare, but during that phase it would be laced with love bombing and basically just building them back up and reminding them how much they mean to me/they're the only person I want. And obviously same goes in reverse, if I let my partner dom me, I'd happily indulge in whatever it was agreed upon for her as long as afterwords I'm given that same treatment of being built back up/cherished/lovebombed into pleasure by her.
