i noticed that the only reason i kept caring about pokemon is due to the setting and designs after gen 5 and 6 were such big disappointments for me
and even that keeps getting worse and worse
playing actually decent spin-offs and fangames, watching the anime, reading the manga(s) and even reading fanfiction are better ways to enjoy pokemon than actually engaging with the "primary" material i.e. gamefreak's turds
