To understand the double slit experiment, imagine dropping a stone into a pond so that ripples radiate outward. Now, imagine you're tasked with measuring the precise contours of those ripples, but the only measurement tool you're allowed to use is to physically touch the surface of the water and feel its position. You know intuitively that by touching the water, you're going to create further ripples wherever you touch it, so measuring the original ripples from the stone in this way is impossible.

The double slit experiment is similar, in that because of the scale of the interactions, the act of observation directly influences the system. If you're still struggling to understand this, take a moment to remember that for your eyes to be able to see light at all, photons have to physically hit your retina. For you to see an object, photons have to physically hit both that object and your retina. If the things you're trying to observe are themselves photons, then no shit your act of observing them is going to cause them to move differently.

The only reason people find this hard to understand is because they either forget or are ignorant of the fact that seeing is a physical process.
