It's hilarious how people claim that high quality suits didn't exist at the time when movies like The Strange Case of Doctor Rx (picrel) had them 26 years earlier in 1942.

At that distance and lack of detail, Patty could totally be a much worse looking costume.

Except good suits existed. This is from The Strange Case of Doctor Rx
(1942). 26 years before Patterson Gimlin. People point to Planet of the Apes which wasn't even about actual Apes but abut Human Ape hybrid types which is why the suits there looked so frail and weird.
