All of the various reconstructions had biological precedent, and in the case of tail dragging the comparison used was with Kangaroos - one of the only bipedal vertebrates with long tails. It's the same story with physicality, which also had the top experts in anatomy of the time study the skeleton for various muscle connections; and they got the results they got.

This is what pisses me off the most about modern paleoart faggotry. It's not about the feathers (which we've known about since Archeopteryx), it's about the utter lack of respect for every single era of paleontology that came before. "Oh, you got that reconstruction 'wrong'? You must have been a retard'. No, you're the retard for not understanding why they reconstructed it the way they did; and the only road ahead is ironically right back where we started in the late 1700's with 'umm actually dinosaurs were big lumbering beasts'.
