Yeah next time I'm going to use a non-cel shaded ref because it feels like I'm just copying those shapes without any mental processing. But I'm also finding it hard simply making the shapes, you can see that with the squares on the skirt here. I'm going to refine it more but getting down what I have was a pain. I guess I'm too used to only lines, which makes me realize I need to do more of these.

Look I know some of you must've given up on your art long ago, but that's no excuse to worsen the thread's quality! Please do not engage in off topic discussion.
