tl;dr the animation where you swap your left or right hand weapon can completely override hitstun with the right timing, which sounds broken as shit, and was, but without it a bunch of weapons had infinite stunlocks so it ended up kind of important and overall beneficial to the game, to the point that Remastered kept it in despite removing Dead Angles, a glitch that let you ignore blocking.

you can see it at around 15 seconds in this webm, the white phantom holding a zweihander gets hit and stunned by the first swing, then toggles the second swing by switching to the bandit knife.
