Scotty West says his entire 32.5 hour course is useless without ear training. So if Yoda says so...I'm afraid it's useful. It's hard to play guitar without hearing music. Hard to play guitar without hands (though some people can play with their feet as hands), hard to read music without eyes (though some of the blind can play just by ear).You get the picture...
