When I was a kid I didn't have a tuner
you would grab a reference E from a toy casio keyboard, a CD, or more likely you just tune it to itself
I knew multiple peers who played guitar or bass, not a single one with a tube amp. all through high school and even into college. the best you'd see was a marshall valvestate half stack
people didn't use pedals because the amps built in distortion (marshall valvestate) literally sounds way better than any pedal
still does
nobody ever had a complaint about "fret ends" which is a completely imagined issue
elaborate pedalboards were not a thing anybody but a professional touring guitar player would have

Its really bad, its way too much too soon with no actual focus on anything that goes together in a coherent manner, its just all over the place. The tabs are complete dog ass and just flat out wrong. You've been getting the same advice here forever now of play to a fucking jam track so you can learn to lock in and actually musically apply what you learned so what you learn has context.
I'm not gonna keep going because I don't need to, but its not my bias, its objective reality. Fucking cope and cry about it or present something that isn't dogshit.

even if thats the case its irrelevant to the point. The information its giving you is poisoned and if you truly didn't know any better you wouldn't even realize. The problem with beginners is they don't know what they want. Thats where a human being comes in, because they can't prompt themselves. So if a beginner blindly follows whatever shitgpt churns out they are going to be wrong and just plainly and flat out.

I think a relatively intelligent person can figure out what they need to learn and what direction they want to go in by the time they're intermediate, between youtube and other internet sources. It's not hard.
Never once did I say a beginner should do this.
See I actually know quite a bit of theory and there's nothing flat-out wrong unless the tab is incorrect. The criteria I gave it were relatively arbitrary to see how well it could construct a plan that moved at the pace I asked for.
It's ability to get detailed and act as a day-to-day instructor, following the plan it had previously laid out, is just as impressive.
LLM's shouldn't be used to create but they can be used to regurgitate and that's all this is.
Don't let perfect become the enemy of good. AI is improving at an astronomical rate and it can already teach better than a lot of flyer-off-the-wall teachers.

What’s the deal with 4chan guitar schizos?
You ask a simple question“Which pickup should I use?”
and suddenly you’re reading a twelve-paragraph manifesto about coil-splitting, tonewoods, and how the Strat neck is secretly a conspiracy.
They’ve got charts, graphs, and diagrams
it’s like talking to a guy who’s been trapped in a Marshall amp for 20 years.
Every post ends with, “Only true players get it!”
I didn’t even know I was a fake guitarist!
And somehow, it always comes back to their homemade fuzz pedal.

What’s the deal with Rick Beato?
The guy’s everywhere! You watch one video, suddenly you’re learning music theory, ear training, and the history of every chord known to mankind.
I just wanted to know how to play a G chord now I’m three videos deep and questioning my entire existence.
And he’s always so calm, so collected…
Meanwhile, I’m over here, my guitar’s out of tune, my cat’s on the amp,
and I still don’t know why the minor seven flat five exists!
And have you seen his “What Makes This Song Great” series?
You start with “Stairway to Heaven” and next thing you know, you’re analyzing jazz voicings in a death metal track!
It’s like he’s trying to break your brain… politely.

In the dead of night, under a waning moon, Paul Reed Smith crept into the cemetery where Leo Fender was buried. With a shovel in hand, he began to dig, his heart pounding with anticipation.
As he unearthed the coffin, he could hardly contain his excitement. He pried open the lid, revealing the decaying remains of the legendary guitar maker. With gloved hands, he carefully removed the bones, marveling at their strength and durability.
Back in his workshop, Smith set to work. He ground down the bones into fine powder, mixing it with epoxy resin. With great care, he molded the mixture into guitar nuts, each one infused with the very essence of Leo Fender himself.
As he installed the first nut onto a PRS guitar, he felt a surge of power course through him. The guitar seemed to come alive in his hands, its tone richer and more vibrant than ever before.
Smith knew that these bones held a special magic, a connection to the man who had revolutionized the guitar industry. And now, that magic would live on in every PRS guitar, forever immortalizing the legacy of Leo Fender.

Guitars on the wall, piano in the corner…
Meanwhile, I’ve got a keyboard that still has cupcake frosting between the keys.
And he’s so nice!
You can’t even be mad when he makes you feel stupid.

During World War II, a Jewish luthier named David Schneider was forced by the Nazis to craft a guitar made from the bones and skin of murdered Jews. Despite his revulsion, he completed the task to avoid execution. When presented to Hitler, the instrument produced an eerily beautiful sound. Impressed, Hitler freed David and provided him with a ticket to New York City. The guitar, infused with the souls of its victims, became a haunting symbol of the Holocaust's atrocities.

You need immersion therapy. Throw away all your sheet music & tabs. Learn everything by ear. Start off simple with children's nursery rhymes (Mary Little Lamb, etc.). The first ones will be tough and take weeks. Keep at it, eventually, you'll train yourself to only use your ear.

Nah the best way to train your ear is to try to figure out songs and then go back and watch a lesson that way you learn what you missed. Like for years I didn’t realize that the second chord in the verse of plush by stone temple pilots is g flat over d, or that the chorus has an e augmented instead of an e5. Chords like that are extremely difficult to hear especially in a mix. Probably better to ear train with stems if possible.

And by the way I’m disabled because of a work injury. But cool. Hard to play guitar without hands (though some people can play with their feet as hands), hard to read music without eyes (though some of the blind can play just by ear). You get the picture...

Practice. Here are twp free online games that makes learning musical notation fun. Protip, guitar music only uses the treble cleff. So you don't actually have to learn the bass cleff (though I would highly recommend it since it's not that much harder to learn.
Hint: The swirly part of the G (it's a fancy G symbol) of the treble clef circles the G line/G note. It's just alphabetical from line to space, line, space etc...You just have to figure out where to start. The bottom line is always an E so it goes E, F, G, A, B, C, D, E, F...on and on. So the first space is F. See the pattern? There can also be sharps or flats but those aren't too difficult to figure out because they have the sharp of flat symbol #/b in front of the note or after the clef itself.
Also there is a mnemonic for the lines that helps: Every Guitarist Benefits Doing Fingerstyle. The spaces spell FACE. There, you now know the basics of reading music minus rhythm (notes have time values - how long to play them, and rests which also have note values - how long not to play them).

you COULD write it out as a key change but it would be clunky and make the sheet music more busy than it needs to be
compared to Major(ionian), Lydian and Mixolydian only have one sharp or flat difference. it just means for that chord, they're leaning on that one note change. seeing as the rest of the chord and melody still retain the sound on the original key, it doesn't sound dissonant, just a little mysterious. then they go straight back into the same key so it's just a quick nod or wink, musically speaking

I know how to read the staff, the problems is speed. Like
> difficult to figure out because they have the sharp of flat symbol #/b in front of the note or after the clef itself.
Ok but do they like remember which lines are the sharps or flats on or do they just know the scale and they know from practicing scales what notes they are allowed to play in that scale or how does their mind work? For me for example I would read the staff to find the note and then would have to remind myself sometimes by replaying the scale to see if that note should be flat or sharp so ofc that going to be slow. So do people who got good do the same thing but faster and they know the scales better or do they straight up read the note the with the sharp cause they can keep track from the start of the line or what? Like if i made up a scale with some keys sharp and other flats and put that at the start of the staff would they be able to sight read it?

Putting the sharp or flat symbols at the start of the staff, after the clef means that all those notes for the entire song get the sharp or flat symbol unless cancelled out somewhere down the line in the song.
I have heard that pianists also learn to read the intervals between the notes in chords. I haven't found out how to do that yet myself as a guitarist at a fast pace. There are promising youtube videos I have seen but it hasn't clicked yet to me on how to recognize the intervals quickly yet. Sitting there figuring out each note one by one stacked in a chord seems impossible to me too. I find this a short coming of the Hal Leonard Guitar Method, Alfred's Basic Guitar Method, Mel Bay's Modern Guitar Method, etc. They just introduce you to chords and show all the notes stacked one on top of another and expect you to magically understand what you're visualizing with no mention of interval recognition or anything really...just memorization of a pile of notes. So going from reading melody lines to chords seems like a giant leap of intelligence that I haven't figured out yet. I do know chords from chord diagrams so I don't actually read the chords in music notation at this point and that's a stumbling block for me.

Yes, I know how the key signature works but you didn’t get my point about make up a new set of sharps and flats.
Thing is I don’t know of a way to tell intervals from the staff in terms of distance which is what you need for guitar which is probably why sheet music notation isn’t very popular with guitarists. But I imagine there must be some process for pianists and that’s what I’m trying to figure out. Like line to line or space to space and a certain distance you can eyeball a fifth and you know how a fifth looks like on the keyboard. My best guess is this somehow scales up with a lot of practice, where you see a chord and you play it.

in guitar sheet music, there's supposed to be a designation of position, usually in roman numerals, which is your key to fretting hand position. this is like the 8va you'll see in piano notation when they want you to play an octave higher, otherwise, there will be dozens of ledger lines above the staff, and it will be unprintable.

You're welcome for the pics but you're asking a very specific question that is answered in those series of videos guaranteed. BUT you have to invest 32.5 hours of your life to find the answer watching his videos. You know enough music theory to be dangerous obviously. You should ask a music teacher, not a guitar board full of self-taught random people. I posted the links to his videos and excerpts from his book to try and help you answer your questions. Without investing the 4 hours it's going to take to go through those videos for you, I can't answer your question because I am not a guitar teacher and am a lost student like you learning.
Anyhow, if you can't invest the time for yourself to watch the videos, then no one here is going to be able to help you out further. So good luck. I tried to help the best I could...Can only lead the thirsty horse to the water. Can't force the horse to drink.

I once bought a now ex-girlfriend a Fender Squire and it had horrible unsanded fretwires on it on the edge, every single one of them up the entire neck. Otherwise it was a great guitar. But the edges of the frets shredded your fingers. I could have filed them off myself but I left them to shred her fingers. We broke up anyhow so fuck her. She probably sold the guitar as she just liked shiny things. Had no real intent to learn to play it.

eventually you'll realize than 99% of guitars are variations of the les paul, flying v, stratocaster/precision, telecaster, dreadnought, or OM guitar design. so in essence the magnum opus for any of these guitars would in fact be one of the original design and manufacturer. i don't agree with some vintage appointments but nitro finishes are awesome. the break even point of great guitars is $3000 which gets you nitro and built in usa with quality parts. yeah you could pay equal or more for an ibanez made in indonesia or pay more for a japanese made in japan guitar but anything beyond an american fender or gibson is severely diminishing quality returns if any. i've been inspecting and playing boutique acoustic guitars for the last few months because i thought i wanted one but they all sound too bright and none of them replicate the j45/martin sound. and ultimately for yourself and anyone you play to is going to associate the music with the sound of a j45/martin because that's what they've always been played and recorded on. i don't hate custom overseas instruments but it's apples to oranges compared to the originals

I dont have any discomfort or anything from playing, I just thought that calluses came along with the experience of learning a stringed instrument? When they closed the Memphis plant they had to destroy all unsold and in-production inventory for some sort of contractual obligation. One of the workers filmed some of it. It's one of the most agonizing guitar videos I've ever watched.
>sit down and grab guitar
>practice the one song I can kinda play
>get bored of song
>go to book
>work on book songs and reading practice
>get bored of book songs
>pick up bass
>shuffle playlist of songs i can play
>play along
>try to learn new song
>give up on new song
>work on book songs and reading
>get bored and pick up guitar again
>ignoring piano but should be focusing more time on that
This is my practice "routine". I don't know what else to do besides play. I should be doing scales but I always forget about them or just feel like doing songs instead. I dont feel like there's a secret to making a good routine, it might just be consistent playing every day. But I've only been on guitar 2 months and I still cant do a song with chords. I'm getting better at solo tabs though.

it's easier on a guitar with a smaller radius but i'd probably find some bluegrass leads and play those completely with the slide. unless you're going to use open tuning then i would just find some open tuning songs

I do like all my instruments. I started with piano then I wanted something more portable so I got a bass, but after getting a bass I wanted a guitar too so I got one. I've made songs on my own before.

Like 2 weeks ago I was all in on my scales but nothing stuck. I believe because I kept hopping between instruments.

Thanks ill look into this. My problem is definitely the attention and not time. I can spend 8 hours on music a day. However I feel like that'd be detrimental.

What's the gayest guitar? I'm thinking the Jazzmaster (gay bridge, gay shape, gay name, gay looking pickups, gay colors, famous players are all gay like Elvis Costello, trust fund bands)

It ran horribly when I first got it, turns out the ~500 round break in period was all it needed. Now it runs flawlessly, chews up brass and spits it retardedly far. I know they’re roughly 4 MOA rifles but it’s been pretty good to me inside of 300 yards.

Mine did too, it would fail to eject and accordion squish brass or fail to feed and smash rounds from the magazine but after 500ish rounds it’s been fine ever since, it still pissed me off though cuz 500 rounds of 7.62x61 isn’t cheap (especially today). I had an HK93 kit build for a while and it was even worse but my 2018 import turkshit MP5 has been great since day 1

ACKSHUALLY Leo designed the headstock to look like a foot so the neck looks like a girl’s leg, literally can’t be gay because it’s inspired by an attractive female. Leo Fender is a confirmed footfag tho

Was fiddling around with my new used tube amp last night.
Basically I can record it without a cab and mic by plugging the fx send into my scarlet solo then opening DSP and turning everything off but the cab.
DSPs cab Sims aren't too bad, especially if you're playing the same head thats in the sim. Might get a real cab in the future but for testing I just had it on low and plugged into my friends starter combo, never played with a real head before, makes it feel more electric, its weird lol
