I've been trying to figure this out for a while now. I think I just figured it out, though: I happened to find an old backup drive recently and it has the oldest backups of my Minecraft files I've found yet. I'm still exploring every folder--this was 2011 and I didn't organize things well back then, but this is the oldest screenshot I've found yet: Beta 1.2_02.
