Anon who started the desert and badlands only biome world here, I don't know how to feel about this. I found a trial chamber which has a mangrove tree growing inside it, you can make as many saplings as you want from the leaves by applying bonemeal to the underside of them. I understand these trees are a right pain to clear up and don't offer much wood but I had hoped logs of any kind would be a few days away from now but hey, this is how things panned out so I'll take the win here even if it is such an annoying tree to take down when fully grown

I do understand the impulse (no pun intended) to avoid political topics, and I think the original instance was something he at first reacted to because… trans stuff has been heavily politicized. As a trans viewer, I had no idea about this, but I can already kind of see why his first instinct was to dismiss it as political, as it’s probable that most of where he hears about trans stuff is politics.

But this is also skizz we’re talking about, and it does not surprise me that as soon as someone explained to him what happened and why what he said got taken out of context, he probably felt terrible about it. He’s one of the most humble and kind hermits out there, feeling like that didn’t come across… that would stink.

But finding out about all of this from his response is best case scenario for me. He corrected himself, clarified, and moved on. He’s not a political streamer, he has no obligation to delve deeper into it, but letting us know where he stands is exactly what I think we needed to make sure this simmers down without any more issue. Also the stuff with his mods, but that wasn’t really his actions and he seems to have handled that ok too.

When I have distant horizons on it "simplifies" some of my builds (most of them really) to colors that don't make sense beyond the render distance, but when I increase the render distance it bitches moans and cries at me in a popup and in chat that there is "really no reason" to have vanilla render distance beyond 8 and it will cause performance issues etc (lie, I have a good GPU).

There were some discussions within the technical mc community to do with this shader rewrite, but it went over my head (I don't know shit about shaders/glsl), and the rework got post-poned and delayed indefinitely(?) for a future version. I really like skizz. I liked him in the life series and I like him in hermitcraft. I think he's a great fit and I wish him all the success in the world... but I really struggle to watch any videos with him in it.

And it's simply because he sometimes talks a little quiet and softly... but also yells so loud. I have to wear headphones when watching videos and that just doesn't work with him yelling so loudly. I had a very strange dream last night that I sold all my family heirlooms to Skizz... He was very nice and an absolute gentleman, paid full asking price. Anon, you can use a fire charge on a block to create fire. That's the whole point of it, a single-use fire starter. The fireball is a secondary functionality. It was one of the ways of escaping the nether if your portal breaks, as you can get gunpowder from ghasts, coal from wither skeletons and blaze powder from blazes.
I think you can light a portal with a fireball from a dispenser anyway, by shooting it at a block on the other side of the portal or by using the dispenser's inaccuracy.

This is like those "how many rectangles can you spot in this picture" riddles, but with worldedit sphere brushes.

It's obvious that they spent months pasting this worldedit creation, but just because it is lots of work, doesn't make it good.
How many hours would it take to walk through it and fix all those many things that look of? Maybe 5? If the creator can't be assed to manually smooth out brush strokes and think about basic effects of gravity and erosion (still exists in an alien landscape), he clearly doesn't value his own work, so why would anyone else?
You can spot that they spent every minute working on it on expanding it, and never refined it.

I'm feeling a bit nostalgic. What version of Minecraft did you anons start with? For me, it was the legacy Xbox 360 version of Minecraft. I didn't have internet when I was a kid, so I was stuck with the base on disc version of the game, but I loved every second of it. I would especially spend a bunch of time in the tutorial world, making it my own by adding on to the premade buildings. I had a similar problem, with all my early bases looking like ass. I distinctly remember building a house once, and feeling really proud of it, only to step back and realizing it was just a rectangle. For whatever reason, 1.14 was the first version in which I managed to build something I was actually happy with.
