Kitasan peaked late and could've likely went on to score more, instead he retired gracefully as a long time established champ and a winner even in his final moments as a racer before receiving a top tier active retirement where he just cums gold on the daily, he's not like most horses and imo was a bad pick for the kind of story they were trying to tell.

I think it was a Cygames decision, they already tried to be more original with their initial vision for Umamusume but by S3 maybe they thought they could now fully try doing their own thing again which turned out to be a mistake and they thankfully corrected course since then. If they would do a show or a movie about Kitasan now I think it would be very different, since you can approach the story of Kitasan from some completely different angles that are more faithful to the horse if anything.
At least the design was good I guess.
