Why were the Irish looked down in the old USA? I don't know the US history that well, and I don't know much about Irish either (beside the stereotype of drunkards who pick fights and potato memes), but I keep hearing about it, and just saw some comedy sketch about how they didn't hire Irish in the 1850s.
