>I kinda liked Naugus as he was depicted in that Season 2 episode as a sort of chaotic-neutral force of nature that was one of the few things that can fuck with Robotnik, but the idea of making him straight-up evil never sat right with me, like they wanted to replace the evil technology theme to go in a more generic fantasy direction.
Naugus in that one episode felt like he was a barely-retooled version of SatAM's unused Nate Morgan concept, changing his story from benevolent sagely human wizard to "that loose-cannon weirdo Robotnik needed to get rid of in order to enact his plans." Making SatAMNaugus a full-on villain would've felt forced because if that guy really wanted to conquer the world he'd have done so already, far more easily than Robotnik even.
