I've finished the next "Man-Eaters" green. Which is what I've decided to name this DD Squad.
>Kazan-3
>A frozen dump of a planet on the outskirts of interstellar civilization
>Or at least, what was left of interstellar civilization
>Space had become a bit of a wild west after the decades-long war with some eldrich monster from beyond space and time
>But it was gone now, so that was nice, all that was left was the slow, arduous process of cleaning up its pets while they tried to rebuild
>Which was why a man by the name of Mishi was reading this report while his ship was en-route to the planet
>A disassembly drone problem
>Tons of outskirt colonies were having problems with them
>The fleeing remnants of a once-endless horde
>They hadn't been fast enough to exterminate them, how could they be?
>Their foes survived in extreme cold, didn't need to breath, could tear through metal, and regenerate from any wound that didn't directly damage their core
>But he'd been through the war, he'd seen them at their strongest
>They were tough
>But they weren't invincible
>So, the report on this one...
>It had begun as a fairly simple matter
>Some farmers heard something in their storage shed
>Thought it was some local critter making a nest
>Or a neighbor, stealing from them
>The man of the house had not expected to find a drone, a can of oil in each hand, with one hanging from her mouth
>The locals, of course, knew little of the solver war, the horrors they were facing
>By some miracle, perhaps due to the effort, the drone had simply chosen to leave with the oil when the man brandished a hatchet at her
>The next people to encounter her would not be so lucky
