Making Hercules a bastard and Hera the villain would mean putting infidelity into a disney kiddy movie, which would cause children to ask their parents uncomfortable questions and then parents to get mad at the studio for having to be asked said questions.

Which is the sort of thing that disney has been trying to get over in more recent years, to just go ahead and put in slightly uncomfortable realities into their stuff, but hasn’t been going well because it’s been getting them a fuckload of criticism.
