The point is that gravity will not prevent the eventual diffusion of gases. Regardless of whether or not they’ve initially concentrated in an open area, the gases will eventually diffuse bc gravity doesn’t prevent gas molecules from seeking equilibrium with their surroundings. The rate of diffusion will be dependent on the rate the gas is being introduced, in addition to the composition of medium its being introduced into. That’s exactly what I claimed from the beginning:
