Step 1:

Measure and cut your dowels to the desired length. This method is more for a lower sort of wall, say up to 2/3 of a man. Higher walls will take additional steps and require extra considerations so, I will go over that in a future post.

These could be used as field fortifications or you could also create a foam hill to put them on top of, similar to a Roman marching camp if you want a taller fortification. Like earthwork embankments topped with a palisade fortification. I will go over taller walls in the future as there are extra considerations for building them.

Sharpen the tops of the dowels which will make up the vertical portion of the rampart to your taste. You can scuff them up a bit with both the cutting part and outside edge of the sidecutters if you are using them.

Once you have them all prepared, take one of the square dowels you have cut and put a small bit of sticky tack on each far end of it. Stick it to the base you will be attaching it to. Make sure it's on there good and flat.

Take the school glue and apply it to the front side of the squared dowel attached to the base. I just glob it right on there. Don't worry if it gets on the base.

Now line up the dowels and place them onto the glue on the desired front side of squared dowel. The sticky tack or tack glue should hold it in place but don't push too hard. Do your best to try to make sure they are straight up, not bending back etc. though you can vary things up here if you want a more hastily assembled look you can make them somewhat uneven, sticking a little further back or forward. Or if you want a well ordered look line them up perfectly as suits your tastes.
