It should be trivial to walk to the lake at low tide, set up some measuring stick and go back to check on it at high tide or vice versa. Maybe you could even do it during spring tides so the effect will be more noticable. Although you'd need to use the globe model to predict when spring tides happen because there's STILL NO WORKING FLAT EARTH MODEL KEK
