Anon, faith runs contrary to law following because what faith basically allows you to do is transcend having to act out the law in compulsion when no one save for Jesus can do that.
The gospel was not an endorsement of religion. It condemned it, and if you would simply believe the gospel you'd come to know what and why Jesus did what he did. Satan built religion on top of the gospel to keep man from understanding that works do not count before a perfect law, and that people conflating trying to morally perfect themselves (attempting to become God) and serving God (believing and preaching the gospel) are gatekeeping idiots.
>No one does good
>Only God is good.
>No one seeks him out
>For they who merely believe on he who justifies the unclean, his FAITH is counted for righteousness.
>For we struggle not against flesh and blood, but against philosophies, ideologies, governments and wickedness in high places.
>Any whom BELIEVE in me HAVE (present tense) eternal-life!
>For without the shedding of blood there can be no forgiveness of sin.
The last one basically condemns religion straight up.
Satan uses religion to get you addicted like a spiritual crack pipe, worshipping yourself and larping as if you're as righteous as God as by what you do outwardly is precisely what religion does, is, and endorses.
It incentivizes a culture of self-righteous psychopathic zealots that put people to death for simply believing and being unable to stop sinning in the flesh.
It accuses you with the very law that condemns it and the ones practicing it, believing that by putting people to death, they are serving God.
Abel and Cain aren't just real people, and the lamb sacrifice isn't just an allegory to Jesus, they're a direct allegory to the two types of people God will interact with during Satan's rebellion. Abel is a believer, Cain is a religious man. Religious people cannot understand the significance of simple faith in God because they are blinded by their pride.
