>either a obstacle you have to jump over or destroy or something that threatens you if you progress while it's still alive
>tricky to hit since most classic games only let you attack horizontally
>take 2 hits to die so if you do hit them you can take them out reasonably fast
>attacks are weak but you get limited healing throughout a level so its still modestly dangerous, worse if there's pits

meanwhile your indie metroidvania flying enemy
>much trickier to hit since they're more mobile to compensate for the player's mobility
>take a minimum of 3 standard attacks to kill
>deal 1/5 of your life for damage because you can heal but healing takes 9 attacks to do and benches to heal are limited

If you're coming from retro games Silksong is just going to feel bad. Even if your mobility is higher common mobs take forever to kill compared to an old game
