Game is objectively harder than the first. Ai plays like absolute cunts. Baseline mobs can have movesets on par with bosses, take 8 hits to kill, parry stances, mobs deal double damage with only 5 hp and pogo moves at an angle instead of down. Its clearly designed for experts at hollow knight.

The funny thing is the game really isn't much harder. Enemies deal more damage but to make up for it Hornet is way more agile and you immediately have a bunch of ranged options. People just aren't using their tools, despite the resource to repair them being abundant as fuck, and aren't using their silk. You also instantly heal 3 masks now instead of 1 and Hornet can do it in the air. Retards are just trying to brute force the game and tank damage instead of playing safe or evading.

I have no problem with the difficulty of the game.
For me the issue is that its literally just more of Hollow Knight and Hollow Knight was boring and feels like shit to play. Everything is so slow. At least in Silksong you get a proper dash, but it still sucks.
I wouldn't even mind not having a dash right away if you could still move at a decent pace like you can in something like Super Metroid.

The difficulty is great. I love it. It makes traversing the world actually a challenge rather than just whacking a couple braindead enemies on the way to the next boss. I don't think TC is the kind of dev to nerf the game because of a few vocal complainers, but if they do I have a GOG installer for the original version backed up.

My only complaint in regards to difficulty is the crest system. The new move sets include different versions of the downward diagonal stab. I've been killed from full health from getting hit once to 2 different bosses because there is only 2 i-frames after being hit
Mistime dodge from Fourth Chorus slam, get hit, can't dodge or jump and fall in lava which needs to do 2 damage for some fucking reason, respawn puts me under a falling rock which hits me before I even have control of Hornet
Greymoor Bird boss I accidentally pressed jump too quickly so I short hop instead of full jumping the charging swoop, get hit backwards into where it has now thrown a saw before I can move at all, hit by saw, knockback sends me straight into the path of the bouncing return saw from its attack before the swoop and die.

Shit is way overtuned and I'm not really even struggling compared to others. There has not been a single boss that has taken me more than 3 attempts, but I'm not having fun at all.
There is no fucking reason the Thorn Sister or whatever its called needs to have summons that also do 2 damage.

HK wasn't Dark Souls, I'm tired of this nonsense. It's an actual Metroidvania, and it wasn't actually that hard at all. Act 1 is harder than any vanilla boss. I don't actually know about the DLC bosses because I didn't play them, I just know this doesn't at all feel like HK1 and it's not a smooth transition from 1. I assume this is a transition from the post-game DLC content.

I'm fine with a boss being hard, but I really dislike the Dark-souls like design where you simply can't hit a boss most of the fight. There's specific openings you have to wait for. And it's like that for every boss. It gets a bit old when every boss is hit 1 maybe 2 times then dodge then repeat and do that 37 times because they have massive HP pools.

In HK1 I beat most of the bosses without having to heal at all. I don't even know what you mean by mid air healing being important. You either have a heal window on the bosses or you don't. There's nothing about healing in the air that helps with that, every boss has the opening phase after they attack where you can heal or damage, same as dark souls. So I just got to bellhart and I've done almost everything I could find in the areas accessible before this, and I have to say I'm confused by the people saying the game is too hard. Now I'm not going to pretend like I'm some god gamer and I've been breezing through the game - but it seems pretty reasonable to me? It's a little annoying mostly because even if you grind out for an HP upgrade, you still die in 3 hits from the boss, but you do get the benefit where healing when taking 2 hits puts you at 5/6 so you can take 1 extra hit. Still, I think a lot of these bosses would have been better felt if they only did 1 damage instead of 2, it's a really rough bell curve and there's a hard lack of save points near boss fights unlike the first game, which doesn't actually make the fight harder, since there's rarely anything in the way, but it does add to the frustration.

I have checkpoints a room or two before bosses. But my game is a linear platformer, its not a metroidvania. Its more like Ninja Gaiden or Megaman. Limited lives and all that. I made it hard as hell, though I did include two difficulties. I can't think of much I can do to make it easier besides removing pitfalls which isn't happening at this point. Its part of the level design.

Having the player hitbox match the model is a weird design choice. Enemies can damage hornet by clipping the top of her head. They probably should have went for the schmup hitbox design where the hitbox is smaller than the character actually is.

There's some weird decisions in terms of difficulty like pretty much everything doing 2 masks of damage while you start off with 5 masks and rarely find any mask shards, your first nail upgrade being fairly late and still unimpressive, and in general every boss being too much of a health sponge with multiple phases that just get tiring when it's done ad nauseum

Also for every retard crying about the bouncing platforms your distance from it doesn't matter, only thing that matters is hitting it with the down attack while moving in a direction. Just fall towards the berry, hit it when you're halfway in it, and it'll bounce you in a scripted arch right towards the next one. Rinse and repeat. After the first berry just let the scripted bounce animation carry you along.

The game is definitely more frustrating that Hollow Knight. It's like they forgot Path of Pain and Pantheon were optional end game content. Not a fan of how different everything is. Why can you only use 1 special attack? Why do you need a full gauge to heal? Why aren't memory lockets carried over between crests? Why is everything unequiped when you get a new crest? Why do you need multiple kinds of charms instead of just letting you use what you want?
None of these were issues in Hollow Knight and yet they changed everything for the worse in this game.

Shinobi was "fine", but really felt like it was too simple for what it wanted to be. Not enough depth really, since it's caught between Metroidvania-lite and a successor to arcade style action games. A metric ton of Hollow Knight isms too. Really, my biggest complaint I had for it was that the ledge climbing / wall running was a finicky ass piece of shit and just made the very, very final bonus challenge room uncompletable for me, but maybe I just need to approach it differently some time.

Really, the biggest problem any of this has is the Dark Souls style run ups to bosses that just happen more and more as things go along. A lot of people will eat shit on a first try, but unlike Metroid which is usually kind enough to have a save room not too far away (and Dread conceded with outright autosave points for the EMMI rooms), Hollow Knight will force you back to the last rest point that was potentially on the other side of the area, better optimize a route.
