People always forget that virus lethality and transmission are inversely correlated. The flu (which is all 'rona ever was) is at the peak of virulence, and still pretty much only kills the old, obese, and the unfortunate bastard with cancer or similarly devastating disease. Whenever the news freaks out about some virus in Africa or the Amazon with a 90% kill rate they omit that it is not very transmissible. Likewise, they also like to over report flu cases by including the common cold to make it seem like it is spreading even more.
